Learn to synthesise
Why?
The ability to combine ideas from different areas is the core of innovation. Restricting yourself to one discipline rarely leads to breakthrough ideas and reduces your creativity to a minimum. Obviously, in order to connect the dots you firstly need exposure to the whole map. Connection in this sense also means networking and finding a deeper meaning. To be successful in synthesising you must be able to filter out any information that’s unnecessary and find the real pearls. Last but not least, collecting the information and creating new meaning isn’t enough. You have to ensure you create a powerful and simple message that people understand – a message summarising your idea so that you can support it. Is there a path to learn to synthesise?
